(written a couple of days ago)
Today I was at the commissary by myself.
Grocery shopping as a pregnant woman comes with many challenges as I have come to find out. First, I have to practice impulse control to some extent (I still go for the chocolate ice cream and pudding...but have to say no to some other things...). It's hard when everything you look at makes your mouth water. (Yum, did I just type pudding? No NO, must focus....)
Anyways, back to the point.
I had a good load of food to get us through the next couple of days, and all of a sudden it was time to check out. I head over to the check out line and wait a couple minutes, and before I knew it, I was up. I start unloading as best as I can (with a large belly that sticks straight out and a sore back). I take my time and get everything out as quickly as possible as not to hold the line up. Then I get a surprise, an elderly gentlemen asks if he can help me get the groceries loaded onto the conveyer belt. I surprisingly and eagerly said "Absolutely, thank you so much!" and then the tears came.
Yes, it made me cry.
I don't think it was the pregnancy hormones either (okay, maybe a little) but there I was....being gracefully blessed by an elderly man (who didn't know me from eve)....who had his own wife and load of groceries. A man who wasn't even much quicker than I was at the work....but he gave it his all and before I knew it, my cart was empty. He said "You are welcome sweetie." with a smile and headed back to his own cart.
Today- that man was my angel.
Today that man brought me a little bit closer to knowing the true character of my King.
Today, that man showed me Christ's love through his selfless act of service.
All of this became a sweet reminder of how truly compassionate our Savior is to us consistently....no matter what kind of day we have had, or how poorly we have acted, or how neglectfully we have treated those around us.....He will continually reach into our basket and empty our load. All we have to do is accept.
Sweet Jesus, thank you for your tenderness when we don't even realize we need it the most.
U-n-d-e-s-e-r-v-i-n-g.
So undeserving.

hola
Well, I still look like a high schooler....does this surprise anyone? Not really!
Went with a friend to get her foreign exchange student registered for classes at a local high school....people either thought I was the foreign exchange student (at which they were shocked by my English speaking skills) or they thought I was your average pregnant teenager registering for classes (at which I received several stares).
Very strange day.
No, I am not in high school and haven't been for six years. Yes, I have graduated from college and have a degree. Oh yeah, and this rock on my finger was given to me by my husband. Can it be possible for this all to be true? Absoflippinlutely.
Ha ha.
I'm not really complaining though, it really was funny. Gotta love all people and their assuming looks of disdain!

feeling crafty
the first time we lived in crispy
I don't think I ever shared these pictures on blog...and I was just thinking about this trip so I thought I would share.
The last time we lived in Corpus Crispy our friends invited us to go out on a guided fishing trip with them. You pay a small fee and get all the bait, poles, and entertainment you can stand. Now seeing as I have never been out on a boat that wasn't in freshwater...I had no idea that I might have an issue with being out on rougher water.
Uhhhhh I did.
I was okay for about 30 minutes until we got out towards the jetty. I started feeling a little funny, but was still excited to see what all we would catch. Our captain was entertaining and we had fun chatting with our friends....until.....I ran to the side and puked my insides overboard, repeatedly.
Gross.
Much to my dismay...this was a four hour trip, so I continued to puke for the next three and a half hours. I didn't feel too embarrassed because my friend got sick with me and was doing the same thing. We huddled together and kept our eyes closed as to avoid the swaying motion while the husbands continued to fish and fish. They would take breaks to pat our backs and check on us, but really there was nothing they could do.
(Lucky lucky them!)
The fish in the above pictures is a Red Fish. Eric didn't actually catch it himself, someone else caught it but didn't want it so we used one of our tags on it. We brought that baby home, and cooked it. It was a little tough because it was an older fish, but it was still fun to eat something that was caught fresh, (and that didn't look like Bambi).
Hopefully one day we can head back out and try our luck again....but I will def. be ready to fight back at the sea with plenty of medication and a large puke bag.
